Review: Hi Busan GuestHouse

Name: Hi Busan GuestHouse
Address: 15, Haeundaehaebyeon-ro 221beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, 48093 Busan, South Korea
Website: Booking.com

I stayed 3 nights at Hi Busan guesthouse when I was in Busan. The hostel is walking distance from Haeundae beach. The hostel is very cosy with fairly good amenities, nice big shower rooms, free simple breakfast and a cat. However the location is a little far off from the other attractions other than Haeundae Beach and the dorm rooms is a tight squeeze. But the staffs are pretty and friendly and I had a good time there.

Rooms:

I stayed in a 8 bed mixed Dormitory Room. The beds as you can see from the photo, is tightly connected to each other and there is no space other than the lockers, to put luggages.
The saving grace of the design though, is how much privacy it gives you. There is a curtain that seperates you from the room and the other 3 sides would be wooden planks or the wall. Except for bunkers like me who stays at the bed close to the door, one side of our bed is exposed towards the direction of the door. I blocked that gap by hanging my coat.

Beds

The beds are clean and comfortable. One pillow and one comforter is given. There is a cute lamp inside each bed though I kinda broke two lamps within 3 days =x. They tend to overheat very easily. There is two shallow shelves at the head of the bed to put your stuffs.

A small towel and bed linen are provided.

Toilets/Shower Room:

There are around 3 shared toilet cubicles near the living room. The toilets are seperated by genders and seperate from the shower room.
The shower room is pretty impressive with a lot of space, hot water and free toiletries. Other amenities like hair dryer, combs, hair brush and flat iron is provided too.  There are no doors though there are shower curtains. I had a bit of problem with the hot water on the first night but I somehow managed to get it right the subsequent nights. It could be the fact that I’m always showering very late in the night, but I never had problem finding a shower space. There was around 4 shower cubicles.

Cleanliness:

Generally very well maintained. Slightly dusty under the bed but that was all.

Location:

The hostel is walking distance from Haeundae beach though getting there can be a little confusing for a first timer. Make sure you download the picture map from the hostel before going. The location is a little far off from other attractions other than Haeundae Beach which can increase your transport cost slightly.

This is the entrance you see at level one. It is adjacent to the entrance of a seafood restaurant.

The location seems pretty safe and is generally surrounded by stores and hotels instead of residential houses. Eateries can be found nearby though they are a little scattered and some times hard to spot. The seafood restaurant beside it isn’t exactly budget eats.

Price:

I booked 3 nights for SGD$42. Take note though my rates are for spring, which is the lull season. This place is almost always fully booked in summer so book early if you’re going in summer.

A simple breakfast of bread and juice is provided. Coffee was supposed to be provided but I never seemed to get it before it runs out 8D

Conclusion:

Overall, the hostel is very cosy with fairly good amenities, nice big shower rooms, free simple breakfast and a cute cat. However the location is a little far off from the other attractions other than Haeundae Beach and the dorm rooms are a tight squeeze.

But the staffs are pretty and friendly and I had a good time there. Breakfast is also provided though the options are limited.

As stated in their description, the hostel has a residential cat. While it is generally a mild tempered cat, you might some times find it on your bed. I love cats so I enjoyed it’s company, but if you’re allergic to fur or dislike cats, you might want to take this into consideration.

I use Booking.com to book pretty much all my hostels and Hotel stays the past year or so. I've stuck with them because their website is simple, intuitive and highly intelligent, If you download the app on your smartphone, all your hotel information instantly syncs to it and you have all you need to know (maps, directions, agreed price, booking number etc) at the tip of your fingers. It is super useful for long trips as you can book and store all your accommodation information in a single place.

* Just a disclaimer, I earn some commission when you book via the search engine below. It wouldn't come from you but from Booking.com & the hostee. I would really appreciate it if you do though, as it's a nice way to fund all these unbiased reviews and travel tips. But if you don't want to, of course I won't (be able to) force you to haha. Enjoy travelling!
